Recent releases by the US Census bureau have shown that the number of people without health insurance in the United State is about 46.6 million, nearly 16 percent of the population. Other studies have shown that 70 million Americans say they lack the life insurance coverage they need to ensure the financial security of their loved ones. Further, US life insurance sales activity for individually underwritten life insurance was down 5.7 percent in June year-over-year, the largest change in the last four consecutive years of June declines, according to the MIB Life Index, the life insurance industry’s timeliest measure of application activity across North America. It is produced by the MIB Group Inc., an association of North American life insurance companies. Declines were consistent across all age groups.
“These numbers are causes for concern,” Hampton added. “This is why DISB will be using the Insure U paradigm, established by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, to send out weekly information on life insurance products for people to consider based on their stages in life. We will send out information for young singles, young families, established families and empty nesters.” Starting this week, DISB will send the information to its community list servs, blogs and the media in the District of Columbia area.
