Following the success of April’s Financial Literacy Month, the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) is hosting ongoing financial-education seminars and workshops for the rest of 2007. The agency presents First-Wednesdays Money Savers to help individuals and families reduce debt, save money and build wealth. DISB has been working with several partners to create innovative strategies to motivate Washingtonians to develop better financial habits.
In April, the agency started first with District government employees; then took its seminars to the community. It is now presenting these workshops throughout the year. During the presentations, DISB will introduce attendees to DC Saves, a local offshoot of the America Saves campaign, which promotes saving over spending. To RSVP, please e-mail Michelle Phipps-Evans at michelle.phipps-evans@dc.gov. Feel free to bring your lunch.
