(Washington, DC) - As part of a free financial advice event for the public, the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation, TDAMERITRADE Institutional and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine will conduct a press conference with Commissioner Thomas Hampton of the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking in conjunction with the Your Money Bus Tour visit to Washington, DC.
Brief remarks will be made by Michael Joyce on behalf of the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation regarding concerns over the growing credit problem in the country and the need for Americans to begin saving immediately. Commissioner Hampton will then discuss the financial concerns facing Washington, DC residents and the opportunities available through the city government.
“Research shows that between 1989 and 2006, the nation's total credit card charges increased from about $69 billion each year to more than $1.8 trillion,” said Michael Joyce, CFA, CFP®, chairman of the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation Board.
