Bulletin: Adult Protecting Service Requirements for Banks and Thrifts in the District of Columbia

Bank managers and financial mangers are now required to report immediately cases where an adult is in need of protective services due to abuse, neglect or exploitation by another person. The report should be sent to the DC Department of Human Services’ Adult Protective Services (APS). This new legal requirement is from the Karyn Barquin Adult Protective Services Self-Neglect Expansion Amendment Act of 2005, effective March 8, 2006. For more information, contact Barbara Strother at APS at (202) 541-3957. To view this bulletin in its entirety, visit DISB’s website.
