Department of Corrections Releases Report on June 3 Escape Investigation

(Washington, DC) Devon Brown, Director of the District of Columbia Department of Corrections (DOC), announced today the conclusion of an exhaustive internal investigation into the June 3, 2006 escape from Washington’s Central Detention Facility. As a result of this investigation, 11 individuals have been terminated from employment with the DOC for their roles leading to the escape and to the breach of security.

“Public safety is our primary concern,” said Brown, who also announced a host of initiatives to increase the security of the facility, including replacing the current community alert siren with one that is more up to date.

The United States Attorney’s Office is currently conducting a criminal investigation into the escape.
