The annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony, which is one of many events held in recognition of National Correctional Employees Week, is scheduled for Saturday May 5, 2012, at 10 am.  National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, E Street, between 4th and 5th Streets, NW. The ceremony honors correctional professionals killed in the line of duty and includes a competition between honor guard units from the District and surrounding jurisdictions. During National Correctional Employees Week, activities are held in states throughout the country to recognize the hard work and commitment of the men and women assuming critical public safety roles in our country’s jails and prisons.
