District Residents Sought for Construction Job Opportunities
Attendees can apply onsite for openings at the new Washington Nationals baseball stadium.

(Washington, DC)  District residents interested in job opportunities in the building trades are urged to attend the upcoming Opportunities in Construction Career and Information Fair, the Department of Employment Services has announced today.  The recruitment fair, which will be held at The DC Armory on February 2, 2007, is sponsored by the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) in collaboration with Clark/Hunt/Smoot, A Joint Venture, the DC Sports and Entertainment Commission, the Stadium Project Labor Agreement Task Force, and the Washington, DC Building Trades Council.  The fair will be held from 10 am to 2 pm.

Career opportunities for carpenters, masons, electricians, and workers with other building-trades skills are in high demand, according to sponsors of the career fair.  Additionally, job seekers interested in working at the new Washington Nationals Ball Park will be able to apply onsite for positions. The career fair will also allow job seekers to learn about the various industry trades as well as existing apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs. Labor unions and construction industry employers are participants of the career fair. Representatives from various District government agencies will also be available to disseminate information about programs and services.

The career opportunities at the career fair target both experienced construction workers and entry-level workers. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, able to lift 50 lbs. or more, and be able to stand for long periods of time.  Applicants should bring a picture ID and be prepared to complete an employment application.
