Washington, DC – More than 140 employers will converge on the Washington Convention Center on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 10 am to 4 pm seeking qualified candidates for positions across the District at Mayor Adrian M. Fenty’s 2007 Citywide Job Fair.
“The Citywide Job Fair brings together job seekers and employers at every level creating a win-win situation,” said DC Mayor Adrian Fenty. “By making a pool of enthusiastic potential employees readily available to businesses, the District of Columbia continues to improve its reputation as a vibrant city where businesses can flourish.”
The event, sponsored by the DC Department of Human Resources, in partnership with the DC Department of Employment Services, is open to the public and employers include District agencies, federal agencies and more than 60 employers from the private sector.
DCHR Director Brender L. Gregory says the Washington Convention Center is the ideal location and with the addition of private companies to the event, participants are sure to find a job that best matches their talents and experience.
“We really want to make the Citywide Job Fair the premiere recruiting event in the District and the region,” said Gregory. “We want everyone looking for a job to have the opportunity to meet face to face with the District agencies and the companies that best match.”
Summer Spencer, Director of the Department of Employment Services, expects this job fair to showcase the diverse mix of available employment opportunities in the District. “Job seekers will find both entry- and professional-level jobs at this event,” said Spencer. “I encourage all District residents seeking employment and career advancement to attend.”
