District Closes A. Philip Randolph One-Stop Career Center

(Washington, DC)  The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) today announced that the A. Philip Randolph One-Stop Career Center will close, effective September 21, 2007.  Clients of the center are urged to seek employment and training services at one of the following center locations:

  • Franklin Street One-Stop Career Center, 1500 Franklin Street, NE
  • South Capitol One-Stop Career Center, 4049 South Capitol Street, SW
  • Veterans Affairs Regional Office, 1722 I Street, NW., Rm. 335  (Veterans Only)

“City residents will still have access to the same level of services at the alternative center locations,” said Summer Spencer, DOES Director.  “We are currently revamping our centers and consolidating resources to better service city residents.”

The A. Philip Randolph center opened in August 2002 as a satellite one-stop career center.  This center represented a unique partnership between the Department of Employment Services and the Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO, Community Services Agency, which offered its clients Internet access, job search, and vocational training opportunities in the areas of hospitality, healthcare, and construction.  Job seekers can still access these services at above-mentioned one-stop centers.
