Mayor Adrian Fenty's 2008 Passport- to-Work Summer Youth Program will begin on Monday June 16, for ten weeks, ending August 22. To date, more than 16,000 District youth have registered for the program. Each young worker will be required to attend orientation at the Washington Convention Center during the week of June16. Parents and youth should pay attention to the dates for orientation and for reporting to their worksites.
Here is a quick look at what is new this summer:
- The first day of work is Monday, June 16
- On a rotating basis, youth will attend a four-hour orientation at the Washington Convention Center, June 16 through June 20
- A debit card will be used to access funds, no more EBT cards
- Travel subsidy will be provided
- Electronic time entry for supervisors
- Mid and end of program performance evaluations (youth and employers)
- Worksite notifications issued by June 6
