(Washington, DC) Today, the youth-oriented show “Keeping It Real” will premiere in its second season on City Cable 16. The 30-minute show, which focuses on topics for and about District youth, is hosted and produced by youth from the Department of Employment Services' Youth Opportunity Program. The show will be cablecast each month on Fridays at 5:30 pm and Saturdays at 12 pm and 5:30 pm.
Keeping It Real’s first show will take a look back at the District's 2004 Summer Youth Employment Program. Segments will examine several innovative summer jobs held by city youth, including a special community outreach program on emergency preparedness called TEAM DC, projects at local Parks and Recreation Centers, private sector jobs at Verizon DC, feeding programs through the Children Youth Investment Trust Corporation, and a mentoring program with the Department of Mental Health.
Keeping It Real also takes a look ahead at a new show, “The Making of Keeping It Real,” which will be cablecast soon on DCTV channel 5 and DC Public School's cable station DC 28. The show can be viewed “on demand” through the Office of Cable Television website at http://www.octt.dc.gov/.
