April 30th Is the Last Day to Register for the Summer Youth Employment Program

(Washington, DC)  District youth who are interested in applying for a summer job must register for the Department of Employment Services (DOES) 2005 Passport to Work Summer Youth Employment Program by Saturday, April 30, 2005. Registration will be held at:

Department of Employment Services

Office of Youth Programs

625 H Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002

Saturday -- 9 am to 4:30 pm

The District’s summer program offers youth ages 14 - 21 temporary employment and training for six full weeks -- July 5 through August 12.  An estimated 10,000 youth will benefit from subsidized employment and job readiness training with employers in the federal and local government, private industry, and nonprofit sectors.  While salary is contingent upon many variables such as age, experience, and industry, youth can earn a minimum of $5.15 per hour working 20-30 hours per week.

For additional information, contact the Office of Youth Programs at 202 698-3991.  Applications can be downloaded from the Youth Services section of the DOES website.
