Apprenticeship Program Offers Hundreds of Jobs in the Building Trades - Releases

(Washington, DC) Hundreds of apprenticeship opportunities are opening for District job seekers interested in a career in the building trades. The DC Office of Apprenticeship, Information and Training, along with affiliated contractors of Associated Building and Contractors, are coordinating three Apprenticeship Recruitment Fairs for District residents. There are immediate apprenticeship openings in the trades of carpentry form builder, drywall applicator, brick-mason, electrician, plumber and sheet metal worker.

The Apprenticeship Recruitment Fairs will be held at the Naylor Road One-Stop Career Center, 2626 Naylor Road, SE on the following dates and times:

District residents who are interested in applying for a trade at the recruitment fairs must first pre-register at any of the Department of Employment Services’ One-Stop Career Centers prior to the apprenticeship recruitment fairs. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age; physically able to perform the duties of the trade; be a high-school graduate or have earned a GED (required for electrical, plumbing and sheet metal worker trades); and have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation (required for most trades). All applicants must also be drug free.
