The District of Columbia Unemployment Insurance Program Launches Automated Services
Available 24 Hours a Day

(Washington, DC) The Department of Employment Services (DOES) has completed an ambitious modernization initiative to automate the District's Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits program.  The new online system will enable unemployed workers and employers to access the system 24 hours a day, seven days a week via the Internet.

City officials will officially launch the new e-government service for direct deposit of unemployment benefits, filing of initial claims for benefits, and filing of continuous bi-weekly claims on Friday, March 5, 2004.

The implementation of direct deposit ranks DC as the 19th state nationally and only the 2nd in the region to offer this automated service.
