DPR to Begin Masonry Renovation Project at Lamont Park

Media Only Contact: John A. Stokes, (202) 673-2195

During the week of September 15, 2008, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will begin a masonry renovation project at Lamont Park, located at Lamont and Mt. Pleasant Streets, NW.

Project work will include replacing of all missing bricks, both in the plaza and at the stage steps, and the rebuilding the curbing along all of the tree areas.  DPR will be working with a specialist in historic masonry renovation to make certain that all new brick and mortar match existing brick and mortar, ensuring the preservation of the unique aesthetics of this park.

The park will not be closed during this project, but active work areas will be cordoned off to the public and clearly marked.  The project is expected to last several weeks, dependant upon weather.
