DPR Closing "Girard Street Park" on December 5, 2008

The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will begin preparations for the construction of a new "Girard Street Park," located at 14th and Girard Streets, NW, by closing the existing park to the public on Friday, December 5, 2008.

Construction will begin during winter 2008 and is anticipated to be complete in summer 2009. 

DPR maintains several facilities on Girard Street, NW; the Girard Street Park that is being closed for redevelopment is located on Girard Street, NW, on the east side of 14th Street, NW.  

DPR is also hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at the "Girard Street Playground," located next to the Columbia Heights Community Center, 1480 Girard Street, NW, on Monday, December 8, at 3:15 pm.
