Mayor Adrian M. Fenty will be joined by Dr. Ximena Hartsock, Acting Director of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and District officials to announce the opening of DPR's outdoor swimming pools for summer and the Memorial Day weekend, and DPR's compliance with the new Federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety law.

The Mayor will also be joined by representatives from Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States, American Pool Enterprises, and the Pool Safety Council to announce donations received from these organizations to support DPR aquatics. 

The event will end with DPR's Mystery "First in the Pool" Guest(s) jumping into the pool to mark the beginning of the outdoor swimming season.
