Department of Parks and Recreation Hosts Summer Job Fair

(Washington, DC) The Department of Parks and Recreation will be accepting applications for summer seasonal staff during the Summer Recruitment Job Fair on Saturday, February 10. The fair will be held at Barry Farms Recreation Center, 1230 Sumner Road, SE, from 10 am until 4 pm.

On Saturday, the agency will be recruiting for lifeguards, water safety instructors, pesticide applicators, camp counselors, maintenance and support service staff, and many other positions. Department representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide detailed position description information. This is the second job fair for the 2007 season.

“We have an exciting summer season planned with wonderful programs and activities for community members of all ages,” said DPR Interim Director Wanda S. Durden. “We’re looking for qualified applicants to fill these positions. This is a great opportunity for high school and college students as well as DC Public School teachers who want to work with children throughout the summer.”

DC Parks and Recreation employs more than 500 seasonal workers and more than 200 in the aquatics department.

Applicants should bring their resumes and be prepared to fill out the Employment Application (DC 2000). On-site interviews will be held for qualified applicants.
