(Washington, DC) On Saturday, March 17 at 10 am, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Ward 5 Councilmember Harry "Tommy" Thomas, Jr., and the Trinidad community will celebrate the grand opening of Trinidad Recreation Center at 1380 Childress Street, NE.
The reopening follows an extensive, two-year, $6.8 million renovation. The new 21,000 square-foot state-of-the art facility features an indoor gymnasium, multi-purpose room, weight room, arcade/game room, enhanced landscaping, computer room and an arts and crafts room. The outdoor basketball court and tot-lot playground will be completed later in the spring 2007.
"With the opening of Trinidad Recreation Center we are continuing to make great strides in meeting the recreational and community needs of our constituents," said Wanda Durden, Interim DPR Director.
The grand opening activities will include entertainment, demonstrations and a facility tour.
