(Washington, DC) Seven outdoor pools—East Potomac, Randall, Upshur, Kenilworth-Parkside, Francis, Georgetown and Oxon Run—will open this afternoon in response to the high heat and humidity in the District of Columbia. The pools will remain open throughout the weekend from 12 pm – 6 pm. “We encourage all residents to come to the pools this evening to cool off, and enjoy the weekend at the pool as well,” said Interim DPR Director Wanda S. Durden.
Additionally, five more pools—Fort Lincoln, Fort Stanton, Harry Thomas, Rosedale and Douglass—will open as scheduled on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 from 12 pm – 6 pm. DPR’s ongoing partnership with Amerigroup Community Care allows for free swimming for DC residents until September 30, 2007.
The following pools open this afternoon from 4 pm – 7 pm and will be open Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm– 6 pm:
