(Washington, DC) On Friday, July 20, 2007, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Ward One Councilmember Jim Graham, Ward Five Councilmember Harry “Tommy” Thomas and the Banneker community will celebrate the re-opening of the brand new Banneker Recreation Center at 2500 Georgia Ave., NW.  

This project includes:

• Upgraded filtration system in outdoor pools (large and walk-to-learn  
  
• Enhanced pool deck  
  
• Renovated interior floors  
  
• New computer lab  
  
• New fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment  
  
• New furnishings throughout the building  
  
• Upgraded HVAC and hot water systems
  
• Upgraded bathrooms, and
  
• Upgraded locker rooms, including new lockers and benches.
