John Thompson III Foundation Partners with DPR to Host 1st Foundation Day

(Washington, DC) On Saturday, September 29, The John Thompson III Foundation will partner with the DC Parks and Recreation to host the 1st Foundation Day community block party at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC), 701 Mississippi Ave., SE and close with a concert in Oxon Run Park, Wheeler Road and Mississippi Ave., SE from 10 am to 3 pm.

The block party will provide family-friendly activities for children and adults. Activities will include games, a basketball and tennis clinic, crafts created by students at the STLC, health screenings and information booths on local schools and education. The evening will conclude with a free concert at 1:30 pm featuring the legendary Chuck Brown.

The day concludes with black tie event at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, hosted by NBC4 former director of news George Michael with Ted Leonis as honorary chair. The Foundation will honor four organizations, The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Capital Breast Care Center and The Washington Jesuit Academy, which have demonstrated unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those living in the Washington, DC.

The John Thompson III Foundation was founded by John Thompson III, Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball at Georgetown University is committed to partnering with organizations that work to eradicate poverty, educate children and provide preventive health care to underserved communities.
