(Washington, DC) At 10 am on Saturday, November 10, at Roosevelt High School, 4301 13th Street, NW, 12 teams will compete in their divisions to earn the right to play in the DC Parks and Recreation Youth Football League (DCPRYFL) Division Championship.
“Fall football is the pride of DPR and the kids have worked so hard to get to this point. We are proud of all of the players, and they are all winners through the spirit of healthy competition, the commitment to team sports, leadership and camaraderie,” said Clark Ray, Acting Director of DC Parks and Recreation.
The Pee Wee division, ages 6-8, kicks off the first game. The Kenilworth-Parkside “Lions” (3-2) face off against the Harry Thomas, Sr., “Cougars” (3-2); followed by the 11:30 am match-up in the Ankle Biter division, ages 7-9, as the King Greenleaf “Wolfpack” (2-3) play the Langdon “Indians” (4-2).
In the Pony division, ages 8-11, two games will be played beginning at noon. The undefeated Emery “Soldiers” (6-0) square-up against the equally undefeated fierce Lafayette “Lightning” (6-0); followed by the Benning Stoddert “Sharks” (3-3) against the undefeated “Kenilworth Lions” (6-0).
The 9 -12 year old Midget division plays at 4 pm. The Lamond “Lightning” (2-4) oppose the Kenilworth “Lions” (4-2). The last game of the day will be in the Intermediate Division, ages 11-14, beginning at 5:30 pm with the Kennedy “Warriors” (4-1) versus the Benning Stoddert “Sharks” (4-2).
The winners will advance to the championship held on November 17 at Roosevelt High School. The Championship winners in each division will become the Recreation League City-Wide Champions. The games start at 10 0am.
