(Washington, DC) – The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Department of Employment Services (DOES) opened two new Satellite One-Stop Career and Information Centers inside DPR facilities this week. The new centers, co-located in the Emery Recreation Center, 5701 Georgia Avenue, NW, and the Columbia Heights Community Center, 1480 Girard Street, NW, will provide District residents and users of DPR facilities easy access to employment related services and information.
“DPR is always looking for new ways to expand the services and resources that we provide in our recreation and community centers,” said Clark Ray, DPR Director. “This is a great example of how two District agencies can work together smartly to bring needed services directly into our centers and directly into our neighborhoods.”
DOES One-Stop Centers serve as a central location for providing access to information on workforce training, job openings, and business opportunities in the Washington metropolitan area. Information about apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and on-the-job training programs will also be available, as well as updates on skills enhancement workshops and local job fairs.
