The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will hold “Earth Day at Turkey Thicket” on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, 1100 Michigan Avenue, NE. The event, a partnership with the Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Urban Forestry Administration (UFA), kicks off at 3:30 pm and includes youth participants from the Turkey Thicket After-School Enrichment Program planting ten pine trees and one magnolia tree. The tree planting exercise is the culminating activity for the youth who have engaged in environmental education awareness activities throughout the year.
