The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), DC Little League, and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance will host the first baseball equipment drive to benefit District youth Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Guy Mason Recreation Center, 3600 Calvert Street, NW, (202) 282-2180.
DPR and DC Little League are asking the greater Washington community to donate old sports equipment or make a quick run to a nearby sporting good retailer to help support the first DC Little League Baseball Equipment Drive. Donations of new or gently used baseball gloves, baseballs, bases, bats, batting helmets, catcher’s gear, cleats, and other baseball equipment will be accepted throughout the weekend.
All equipment donations can be dropped off at the Guy Mason Recreation Center, 3600 Calvert Street, NW. Drop off times are:
- Thursday, April 24, 9 am to 9:30 pm
- Friday, April 25, 9 am to 9:30 pm
- Saturday, April 26. 9 am to 5 pm
For those wishing to make a financial contribution in lieu of donating equipment, contributions should be made payable to “Greater Washington Sports Alliance”, with “District 3 LL” indicated in the memo line or with a note accompanying the contribution. Contributions should be sent to: Greater Washington Sports Alliance, 1725 I (Eye) Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20006. The Greater Washington Sports Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
