WHAT:
The Washington Nationals will collect new or gently used baseball equipment, including but not limited to gloves, tees, baseballs, softballs, bats and youth helmets during their upcoming weekend series against the Chicago Cubs, April 25 through 27. Collection will take place outside the Center Field Gate and the Left Field Gate when gates open and last through the fourth inning.
The equipment will be donated to the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation, along with a $5000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to purchase new equipment for DC Little League. An organization of five regional leagues within the District of Columbia, DC Little League provides District youth with the opportunity to play baseball and is supported by DPR and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. The District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation provides quality urban recreation and leisure services to residents and visitors to the District of Columbia and supervises and maintains area parks, community and recreation centers, as well as coordinates a wide variety of recreation programs including sports leagues and youth development.
