On Friday, April 25, 2008, at 8 pm, the first night game of high school baseball in District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) history will be played under the lights on the Department of Parks and Recreation’s (DPR) Banneker Baseball Field at 2500 Georgia Avenue, NW. Baseball teams from Cardozo Senior High School and Theodore Roosevelt High School will play in this historic game.
DPR has been performing spring athletic field maintenance across the District, and at Banneker baseball field, major lighting repairs, ball field work, fencing repair, and other general improvements were recently completed. DPR continues similar work on athletic fields across the District and will continue scheduled athletic field maintenance throughout the spring and summer.
“It’s a great honor to host baseball under the lights at Banneker baseball field,” said Clark E. Ray, director of DPR. “Friday’s game will be even more special because District youth will be the first to enjoy the benefits of DPR’s hard work to make our fields ready for baseball.”
