Over 400 District Youth Participate in Citywide Spring Soccer Championship Games

Today, the Athletic Programs Administration of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the results of last weekend’s Citywide Spring Soccer Championship Games. Over 400 youth and young adult athletes, ages 5 to 20, participated on 35 teams throughout the day of competition, which was held on Saturday, June 14 at the Takoma Community Center, 300 Van Buren Street, NW.

“Congratulations to the players, coaches, and parents on the outstanding display of sportsmanship, agility and competition at this year’s soccer championships,” said Clark E. Ray, director of DPR. “Our soccer program continues to grow and we look forward to assisting in the cultivation of world-class youth athletes here in the District of Columbia.”

The winners of the Citywide Spring Soccer Championship Games are as follows:

 Division / Age  2008 Champions
 5 and 6  DC Bilingual
 7 and 8  Hearst Recreation Center
 9 and 10  Hearst Recreation Center
 11 and 12  Ward 7 (All Star Team)
 Under 21  Office of Latino Affairs (1) Boys
 Under 21  Office of Latino Affairs (2) Girls
