The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is proud to announce that Universal Madness is the 2008 champion of the Harry Thomas Sr. Late Night Hoops basketball league. The championship game was held at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center on Friday, June 13, and Universal Madness defeated Langdon Park, 78 - 61.
Harry Thomas Sr. Late Night Hoops basketball league play began on April 8, 2008, and featured over 200 players on 18 teams, comprised of men age 16 and above. Games were held every Friday night at Turkey Thicket; Langdon Park; and Trinidad Recreation Centers, all located in the District’s Ward 5.
Funding for the league was provided through the Ward 5 Gang Intervention Program.
