See You In September for Fun-Filled Fall and Much More!

Media Contact Only: John A. Stokes, (202) 673-2195

Will we see you in September? We certainly hope so. As fall arrives, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) remains the place to be for the best in urban recreation, athletic and leisure services in the District. Our dedicated staff has created a wide array of outstanding programming at our recreation centers, aquatic facilities and parks throughout the city with you in mind.

Before we highlight September’s events, DPR would like to express gratitude for your overflow of support in August 2008. Last month, our Camping Division broke through to unprecedented success as over 13,000 District residents registered for its summer camps; in its first year of existence, DC Speed, the youth track and field club of DPR, sent 5 athletes to the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics; our Marvin Gaye Park was the host site for the 2008 Capital Hip Hop Soul Festival which drew thousands; and the Strengthening Education and Tennis through Upgraded Programs (SET UP) Summer Enrichment Program of the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC), hosted a day of social action-oriented activities called “Change Agents: Changing Youth, Changing the World.”  What an amazing August it was!

In September, an abundance of fun, educational and informational activities await you at our parks, recreation centers and aquatic facilities. To find out more about the events, programs and services DPR is offering in September, visit us online at DPR.DC.GOV or stop by your nearest DPR Center to pick up “Fun-Filled Fall,” the 2008 DPR Fall Program Guide or select from the following link to view a complete list of our featured September activities:
