Douglass Community Center Reopens After Repairs and Renovation

Media Contact Only: John A. Stokes, (202) 673-2195

On Monday, November 17, 2008, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) reopened the Douglass Community Center located at Frederick Douglass Court and Stanton Terrance, SE.

The center was closed in August 2008 to accommodate installation of a new roof, and other repairs and renovations which were recently completed throughout the center.

Support for the repairs and improvements were provided to DPR by the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA).   Preparations for the renovation began on September 13, 2008, during DCBIA's annual Community Improvement Day, which was held at the Douglass Community Center.

Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 2:30 pm to 9 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.  For more information about programs and amenities at the Douglass Community Center, contact the center at (202) 716-9837.
