It will be a Wonderful Washington Winter this December thanks to the wide array of programming our dedicated DC Department of Parks and Recreation staff has created with you in mind.
We would quickly like to thank you for your tremendous support in November. Some of the highlights included the opening of the Shaw Dog Park, the District’s first public dog park; the championship games of our first season of DC Pop Warner Football; raising awareness of children’s health and combating childhood obesity at the “A Mile in My Shoes” Walk-a-Thon, breaking ground on French Street Park and launching our first season of indoor track competition with DC Speed.
This month, an abundance of community, educational and holiday activities await you. You can join our Aquatics Division for courses in lifeguard and CPR training; take an AARP Driving Safety Class (for those 55 years old and up); get tested for HIV free of charge at “Get Tested with Go-Go”, participate in any of several toy and clothing collections and give-aways; or celebrate the holidays with dinners, Christmas ornament making and gift wrapping events.
These programs and more are here at your Department of Parks and Recreation! To find out more about the events, programs and services DPR is offering in December, continuing reading below, visit us online at dpr.dc.gov or stop by your nearest DPR center.
