The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) continues to accept applications for those interested as working as a certified American Red Cross lifeguards with DPR during summer 2009. Prior American Red Cross certification is not necessary, as DPR is offering free training and certification for new DPR lifeguards.
Training classes are currently underway and will continue throughout the spring; training includes conditioning exercises and the complete American Red Cross lifeguard training course. All lifeguard applicants must be 15 years of age or older. DPR operates indoor and outdoor pools, and spray parks across the District.
Interested applicants should submit a DPR Summer 2009 Preliminary Employment Application and the standard DC Employment Application (DC2000). DPR offers competitive salaries and an opportunity to become a year-round lifeguard. Additional information and forms are available in the "Summer Employment" section of DPR's website, DPR.DC.GOV.
