Media Contact: John A. Stokes, (202) 673-2195

This morning, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty was joined by DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Director Clark E. Ray, Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr., and Ward 5 residents for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of major renovation work at the Theodore R. Hagans, Jr. Cultural Center located at 3201 Fort Lincoln Drive, NE.

"The Theodore Hagans Jr. Cultural Center has served this community for years and the work completed here by DPR will help ensure that our residents will continue to enjoy this now improved facility,” said Mayor Fenty.

Renovation work included improvements to the facility entrance, swimming pool, and interior of the building, including renovation of the restrooms, lockers, and showers; and enhancement of lighting throughout the building.

"DPR is committed to maintaining and improving our facilities so that they can fulfill the recreational needs of all of our residents,” said DPR Director Ray.  "Once again I'm proud of the work completed by DPR's Office of Planning and Capital Projects."
