This afternoon, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty was joined by Dr. Ximena Hartsock, Acting Director of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) at the Kenilworth-Parkside Recreation Center, 4300 Anacostia Avenue, NE, to announce that DPR is now opening at least one recreation center in each Ward on Sundays across the District.
"As the days grow longer and we move closer to summer, the importance of having our recreation centers open for our children and youth to enjoy only grows," said Mayor Fenty. "DPR parks and recreation centers are a safe and healthy destination for all District children and families to enjoy."
Sunday hours have been added at nine DPR centers, and Saturday hours have been expanded at one center. The complete list of newly expanded and regular hours of operation is provided below.
"We're very excited to start opening our doors across the District on Sundays," said Acting DPR Director, Dr. Ximena Hartsock. "The need for parks and recreation is seven days a week."
