The Capitol City Little League 10 and under All Star team concluded a very successful summer season with a five day visit to the Maryland State Tournament in Salisbury, MD. After daily practices and three warm-up tournaments, the team won the DC Championship last week, then advanced to the Maryland State Baseball Tournament, where they played agaisnt the best teams from across the state.
On July 18, the Capitol City Little League All Star team won their game against district champions West Salisbury 13-10, and then on July 20, beat Hughsville 7 - 6 in an extra inning. The Capitol City Little League team was one of only four teams remaining in the tournament when they were eliminated from the tournament with a loss to Elkton, 3 - 5 on July 21.
Congratulations to the eleven players from Minor and Major Leagues who proudly represented DC and the Capitol City Little League this summer: Samuel Coan, Billy Conte, Christopher Hamann, Bruce Hudson, Abe Jacobson, Cooper Jensen, Ben Kaslow-Zieve, Jeremy Mallin, Zachary Schauer, Ethan Shimberg, and Sam Velleca. The team was led by John Jensen and Mark Velleca.

Capitol City Little League 10U All Star Team with former Capitol City All Star, Mike Sheridan, following a minor league game in Salisbury, MD. Sheridan was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008 and is currently playing first base for the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
Capitol City Little League has been serving the Washington, DC for more than 20 years. Run completely by volunteer support, Capitol City Little League has spring and fall recreation leagues with 4 baseball divisions with teams of co-ed kids from 5 to 12 years old, and 2 divisions for girls softball for girls ages 9 to 16 years. Programs are open to children and teenagers who reside within specific boundaries in Northwest Washington, DC.
