Today, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Ward-2 Councilmember Jack Evans and DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Acting Director Ximena Hartsock, joined Ward 2 residents to begin major improvements to DPR's park at 7th and N Streets, NW. The goal of the park improvement project is to create a family-friendly space by making a number of capital improvements to the current park.
“Making investments in our neighborhoods, and improving the recreational facilities for our communities and our families remains a priority for my administration,” said Mayor Fenty. “This park will be something for the community to be proud of, celebrate, and enjoy."
Improvements to the park include:
- Installation of a new play structure for 2 to 5- year-olds;
- A new swing structure for 2 to 12-year-olds;
- A poured-in-place rubber play surface;
- New benches;
- New ornamental steel fencing;
- New lawn and shade trees; and
- New walking paths.
“DPR is proud to be undertaking this project in Ward 2,” said DPR Acting Director Hartsock. “We are committed to providing top-notch playgrounds and recreational facilities for residents across the city.”
