The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Senior Services Division will host a Senior Health Expo for senior citizens on Friday, September 25, from 10 am to 2 pm at DPR's Emery Recreation Center, 5801 Georgia Avenue, NW. DPR, working with Barney Neighborhood House Senior Services, a lead agency for the DC Office on Aging (DCOA), will bring nearly forty health and insurance organizations which serve seniors together for the Senior Health Expo which is being supported by Pfizer, Inc. 

Participating organizations will be providing information about diabetes, glaucoma, arthritis, blood pressure, HIV/AIDS and cancer. Information will also be available about recreation, exercise and nutrition, cooking, computers, legal matters, insurance and financial services.

“We want everyone to live healthier, longer and better”, said DPR’s Acting Director Ximena Hartsock.  “Our Senior Health Expo is an opportunity for DPR to provide our seniors with important information about the recreational and leisure options here at DPR, and the many other services and programs available throughout the community."

Additional support for the Senior Health Expo is being provided by the United Way; The George Washington University's Health Insurance Counseling Project; Vitas, Innovative Hospice Care; CVS/pharmacy, and Berhan Home Health Care.
