(Washington, DC) In March, DC Parks and Recreation will hold the first in a series of community workshops geared toward citizen mobilization.
The symposium, "Building A Better Parks System Through Partnerships For Our Parks and Recreation Centers," will take place 8:30 am to 4 pm, March 22 at the Josephine Butler Parks Center (2437 15th Street, NW).
Subjects covered during the event will include:
- How to Establish a "Friends of" Group
- Establishing Your 501(c)3 Non-Profit Status
- Board Development
- Landscaping Standards: What Plant Life Works for Our City
- Basic Fundraising Strategies
- Recruiting, Managing, and Retaining Volunteers
- Mobilizing the Youth in Your Community
