DPR Schedules Adopt-A-Park Symposium

(Washington, DC) In March, DC Parks and Recreation will hold the first in a series of community workshops geared toward citizen mobilization.

The symposium, "Building A Better Parks System Through Partnerships For Our Parks and Recreation Centers," will take place 8:30 am to 4 pm, March 22 at the Josephine Butler Parks Center (2437 15th Street, NW).

Subjects covered during the event will include:

  • How to Establish a "Friends of" Group
  • Establishing Your 501(c)3 Non-Profit Status
  • Board Development
  • Landscaping Standards: What Plant Life Works for Our City
  • Basic Fundraising Strategies
  • Recruiting, Managing, and Retaining Volunteers
  • Mobilizing the Youth in Your Community
