DPR Schedules Citywide 'Thank You'

Residents invited to open house

Want to know more about your Department of Parks and Recreation?

DC Parks and Recreation will hold its annual Holiday Open House between noon and 4 pm, Wednesday, December 19 at its headquarters on 3149 16th Street, NW.

Department staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding the city's various recreational programs and facilities. Refreshments will be served.

District residents are encouraged to visit the office and learn about DPR and its available services. DPR oversees a wide variety of recreational and educational programs. Art classes, child-care services, sport leagues, swim lessons and senior citizen activities are just some of the activities coordinated by the department.

The open house lets DPR employees interact with residents on a more personal level, generating a chance to build relationships.

"This is our way of saying thank you," director Neil Albert said. "We hope that the community will use this opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes view of DPR. Our doors are open."
