DPW Advises Salting Sidewalks, Steps Tonight Due to Freezing Temperatures

(Washington, DC) It was 80 degrees earlier this week, but now it’s sleeting and sidewalks and steps are beginning to get slick. The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) is advising residential and commercial property owners to apply salt or other abrasives, such as non-clumping kitty litter, to the sidewalks around their properties, tonight, March 16.

“Keeping our sidewalks safe for pedestrians is in everyone’s best interests,” said DPW Director William O. Howland, Jr. “The forecast is for below freezing temperatures tonight, so please take the time to treat your sidewalk.”
