(Washington DC) Fire and EMS Chief Dennis L. Rubin hosted dozens of Georgetown community children and their parents today at Engine Company 20 at 4300 Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest. Engine 20 is serving as the temporary home of the Georgetown Public Library’s Children’s Reading Program after a three-alarm fire at the library April 30 forced the children’s reading program to close. Chief Rubin immediately offered to help, and now Georgetown children and their parents have a new place to experience story time. Two library staffers will read to the children inside Engine 20, which was recently reopened after a major renovation. Baskin Robbins served up free ice cream at today’s event.
