(Washington, DC) Arson Awareness Week takes place May 7 – 13. The District’s Fire Marshal will participate in an assembly at Paul Public Charter School tomorrow, May 9, to get children thinking of ways to prevent arson.
“Fire’s very scary for children,” said Fire Marshal Richard Fleming. “The more we reach out and get safety messages to them, the safer they will be – and the safer their families will be.”
After the assembly, children will then write an essay or short story on ways they can prevent arson fires in their community. The essays will be evaluated and the authors of the best five will be invited to have lunch with Chief Fleming on Friday, May 12.
