DC Fire/EMS Chief Thompson Welcomes Independent Review of Rosenbaum Incident

Adrian H. Thompson, Chief of the Fire/EMS Department said today that he fully supports the Mayor’s decision to ask for an independent review of the District’s response to Mr. Rosenbaum on January 6. The Chief said, “We welcome this review. The Fire/EMS Department provides critical services to people in the District of Columbia. They must be confident in the services we provide.”

The agency will provide complete and detailed information to the Office of the Inspector General and cooperate in every way with their investigation. The Department is unable to publicly discuss or provide specific details of Mr. Rosenbaum’s condition, medical care or treatment. The DC Fire/EMS Department is governed by the strict mandates of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which bars health care providers from disclosing protected health information.
