(Washington, DC) Members of Tenleytown and the surrounding communities are invited to celebrate the re-opening of Engine 20 on November 4, 2006.

 

The historic firehouse, located at 4300 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, is now open and Fire/EMS Chief Adrian H. Thompson encourages all residents to join him in the celebration.

 

“It’s truly a great day for this community,” said Chief Thompson. “Tenleytown has its firefighters and EMS providers back in their home location and we have a modern, state-of-the-art facility that works well for the citizens who depend on it.”

 

Engine 20 was closed in June 2002 and relocated to the quarters of Engine 31 during construction. The new fire station now houses the original equipment: Engine 20, Truck 12 and Ambulance 20, plus it has Battalion 5. Engine 20 now operates as a paramedic engine, further enhancing EMS service in upper Northwest.

 

The community celebration will include food, smoke alarm giveaways, free blood pressure screenings, fire station tours, the fire safe house, fire extinguisher training and much more! A formal re-dedication ceremony will be held at noon with Chief Thompson and a host of community leaders.
