During the 2011 renewal period Criminal Background Checks will be required for all Social Workers who have not completed a CBC to be licensed by the DC Board of Social Work. Social Workers applying for new licensure after January 3, 2011 will not be required to undergo another CBC. Click here for more information. 

Please note that Criminal Background Checks that have been completed by other government agencies or employment agencies will not be accepted for the Social Work renewal requirement. All Background Checks will need to be scheduled by HPLA Criminal Background Unit or completed specifically for the D.C. Licensure Renewal.

Criminal Background Checks completed for a seperate D.C. License (ex: Addiction Counseling Certification or Licensed Practical Nurse license) within the past 6 months will be accepted for this renewal.
