Vigil Being Held to Honor Murder Victim Lee Person "Diamond", Local Transgender Person

Family and friends of Lee Person, better known throughout the community as “Diamond”, joined by members of the  local and national transgender community, will gather for a candlelight vigil in front of her building where she lived and was brutally murdered inside her apartment last week in the 3900 block of Kansas Avenue, N.W.

Transgender women continue to be murdered with horrifying frequency in Washington, DC.  Nationally, a transgender woman is murdered on an average of approximately once per month.  “Diamond” was the second homicide in the District of Columbia for the new year of 2007.  Here are the vigil details.
