Grand Opening for Wanda Alston House Set for July 8, 2008

The Wanda Alston House is a groundbreaking housing program for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) youth in Washington, DC. It is the first transitional living program dedicated to preparing GLBT youth for independent living and adulthood in the District of Columbia.

Wanda Alston was a prominent leader in the GLBT community and was the first appointee to direct the Mayor's Office of GLBT Affairs. The Wanda Alston House is a project of Transgender Health Empowerment, Inc. which receives funding by District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services through a grant to the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness.
