This is to advise the news media that the Metropolitan Police Department’s Latino Advisory Council will sponsor a Health and Public Safety Fair. The fair, which will be in Spanish with English interpretation provided, is designed to provide various services to the Latino community and promote greater communication between residents and the police department.
The Health and Public Safety Fair will offer free health screenings, eye examinations, provide information about government services available to the Latino community, free child identification kits and more. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Latino Advisory Council consists of community, government and police representatives. Current members include representatives of the Latino Federation of Greater Washington, Councilmember Jim Graham’s Office, the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency, the D.C. Department of Human Services’ Income Maintenance Administration, MPD’s Latino Liaison Unit and the MPD’s Third and Fourth District commanders.
